"You Don’t Know What
Height You Can Achieve
Until You Spread Your Wings and Fly”
1929-1996
Katherine Dugan, a true King's Daughter was the First Lady of Christian Unity M. B. Church. This scholarship was started in her memory to honor her selflessness in helping the children in the community. Her lifelong nursing career birht her true passion in life and personal motto “If I Could Just Help Somebody.” Sis. Dugan’s passion of reaching out was expressed in the educational welfare of the children at Christian Unity, in the community, and globally.
“If I Can Help Somebody”
Sis. Katherine Cutts Dugan was an inspiration to many. She touched and helped people from all walks of life. Her wisdom truly was far and beyond any precious jewel. Truth & honor were the clothing she not only wore but passed on to others. She was one not to have a hand out, but help out by always lending her hand. Her personal motto was “If I could Help Somebody”. Truly she lived each day to do just that. Sis. Dugan has departed this life, but her dream, her legacy and her motto are still very much a part of life today as she’s still helping many through the

Many students are continuing their education & reaching higher heights in life all through her love. She stressed education as she started the Christian Unity after-school tutorial programs. The words “I can’t” were never in her vocabulary . God blessed her with a strong determination to do his will. Under God’s special anointing she had a way of bringing out the best in people, especially young people. “ A charge to keep I have”, “A God to Glorify” & “The Lord is my Light & my Salvation” were her statements in her love for gospel music. You can safely say her song was her life. In her quest and great love to encourage and help young people she kept the charge God gave her, to lend a helping hand where -ever she went. When she walked in, things happened, things were created, things changed for the better. She encouraged all to excel and do well. She’s still encouraging others through this scholarship. The purpose of this scholarship is to continue her work by granting scholarships to children in the church and community to continue their education, reach beyond the break and step into their destiny.
